Outta nowhere fantastic Japanese vinyl import of WSSOES material originally released on Ajax in 1994. For the uninitiated, this was a Michael Morley project prior to his involvement in Dead C (and Gate). It sounds like neither. Buy a copy and see for yourself. Contains insert, pressing of 200."Wreck Small Speakers On Expensive Stereos 12" EP + CD have been favorites for many years. But why not complete them on one vinyl? Flying Nut has done so. Unique for Flying Nun label, WSSOES combine the Katachi of legendary The Fifth Column with a Seishin heard in Eyeless in Gaza and Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft. These years were 1983-1986. Member Michael Morley then become member of DEAD C and also Mr. Gate. This release combine River Falling Love 12" EP + River Falling Love CD."—Ueda, Flying Nut Records.

***A compilation of unusual Beatles cover versions from around the world! Songs from Columbia, Jamaica, Canada, China, Mexico, Armenia, Turkey, Nigeria, Germany and more. These are mostly minor key melancholic serious takes on Beatles tunes... but it's a fun record for sure. Comes with a twenty page 12 X 12 full color booklet filled with photos, details about the artists and paranoid ranting about The Beatles as a colonial force.

Tithe is a Portland, Oregon-based act that draws influence from many dimensions of dark, extreme music and themes to manifest their distinctive hypnotic, grinding death metal. Comprised of Matt Eiseman (vocals / guitar), Alex Huddleston (vocals / bass), and Kevin Swartz (drums), the trio converges to create an arrangement even larger than the sum of its parts. Communion In Anguish expands upon 2023’s Inverse Rapture by amping up the aggression and doubling down on the unrelenting atmosphere of the previous record. The new addition of Alex Huddleston’s lower register growls combines with Eiseman’s distressed wails and Swartz’s driving rhythms to push the band into new sonic territory. Featuring artwork by Mitchell Nolte and produced / engineered by Keith Merrow at Merrowsound Studios, Communion In Anguish is the culmination of Tithe’s previous work and it delivers with its honed and lethal sound.

The first album from unconventional Polish power trio Species, To Find Deliverance, leveled one with its rare blend of technical thrash prowess and unorthodox but highly inspired songwriting, enough to make 20 Buck Spin’s best of 2022 album list. Out of that list a collaboration was born and now Species make their 20 Buck Spin debut with second album Changelings. A step up in every regard, Changelings is astonishing in its accomplished precision and how much it manages to achieve within the scope of individual tracks and as a cohesive whole. The album features an overload of angular guitar warfare, traditional Euro-thrash aggression with a modern resonance, rhythmic percussive seizures, and intricate basslines that make their intention deeply felt, not just following the guitar but dialoguing with it in a way that offers a second melodic brain to the album. In combination these elements thread seamlessly to give Changelings its colorful and uncanny vision, as if John Carpenter had co-produced Rust In Peace behind the iron curtain. It’s bristling with sci-fi paranoia, alien terror and a hint of Cold War menace. The early convergence of thrash metal with death metal is also unmistakably present in the shape-shifting sound of Species. While there’s more than enough primitive and traditional thrash bands to go around, Species embraces the genre’s lesser-travelled road of forward-thinking virtuosity and inventive experimentation, showing there’s still plenty of fertile ground to seed new musical territory. Nowhere is it more apparent than on 10-minute album closer “Biological Masterpiece”, where...

Melbourne’s fave three-guitar rock’n’roll power poppers The Prize have at long last announced the imminent release of their debut album In The Red on September 19 via Anti Fade Records in Australia and Goner Records in the USA.The announcement and the new track follow the album’s previous two singles, “First Sight” which was released August 2023 ahead of their first European tour (with King Gizzard) and “Had it Made” which was released last October ahead of the band’s second European tour (with The Chats) late 2024.The Prize made their debut for Anti Fade in 2022 with the EP Wrong Side Of Town which prompted global interest in the band. They began recording the album in 2023 but the international tours caused delays, as did the departure of original bass player Jack Kong in early 2024. New bass player Ethan Stahl (formerly of UK band Chubby and the Gang) came on board a year ago after Kong helped the band finish the tracking process. Initial album sessions took place with Paul Maybury of Rocket Science at his A Secret Location studio, with subsequent tracks recorded with Matt Blach of the Murlocs at Gizz Studios (following The Prize’s European run with King Gizzard late in 2023) and, in January of this year, with Robin Mukerjee of TV Colours. The band, which features drummer Nadine Muller sharing lead vocals with guitarist Carey Paterson together with guitarists Joseph Imfeld and Austin Haire as well as new bass player Stahl, is known for its powerful three-guitar...

***After some turbulent late teen years in her former pop punk band, Mixtapes, Maura Weaver needed a break. Months became years and the songs still weren’t coming. It wasn’t until being thrust into personal heartache in 2020 that she began to write songs again and the result was her 2023 solo debut I Was Due For A Heartbreak. The record was a personal breakthrough for Weaver, characterized by Weaver’s distinctive emotional intelligence, the record was intimate and relatable—filled with quiet moments counterbalanced by big ideas about love, loss, and life.Weaver’s sophomore effort Strange Devotion continues in a similar vein. Written and recorded at an allegedly haunted Northern Kentucky studio with longtime collaborator John Hoffman, Weaver’s melody-driven and thought provoking lyrics are as present as ever. But here we have her in the catbird seat. “This time around it was most important that I made a record that I was happy with,” explains Weaver, “Feeling comfortable saying, ‘This is what I think, and this is what I want.’” This confidence flows through the ten distinct tracks suffused with intentional and delicate storytelling while presenting a sonic palette that spans the Feelies, Teenage Fanclub, Liz Phair, and even the Cars. From “Prince,” a bright and light song destined for blasting with the car windows down, to the infectious “Do Nothing” to the impeccable riffs on “The Face,” every molecule of this record reflects Weaver’s continued maturation as a solo artist, a band leader, a player, and a songwriter.Emotionally, the second LP mines...

***Legendary and pioneering Träd, Gräs och Stenar is considered Sweden's oldest rock band to play psychedelic underground music. The group originally formed in 1967 as International Harvester, later became Harvester, and eventually evolved into Träd, Gräs och Stenar. Their unique blend of psychedelic rock and traditional Swedish folk music was groundbreaking at the time—and still resonates with new generations of listeners today. This long-awaited "Green Album" from 1970 marks their very first release under the name Träd, Gräs och Stenar. Now, for the first time since its original release, it's being reissued on vinyl-complete with rare photos, an in-depth story, and a 30x60 cm poster. Decades later, the band continues to perform under the name TRÄDEN, now with only one original member. He is joined by a new generation of acclaimed musicians, who are keeping the spirit alive and carrying the sounds and legacy of Träd, Gräs och Stenar into the future.

***Seoul’s Gawthrop return to reconsign the sub-genre of sludge metal to its most resplendent and burdensome form, unfolding a monumental death and doom-scarred feedback-worshiping monstrosity that will stomp, crush and flatten the listener to death. The enigmatic South Korean amplifier-torture cult had already given the world a glimpse into their cryptic auditory horror through 2019’s self-titled and 2022’s "Jumbo" demo tapes (both remastered and re-released by Sentient Ruin as the "Deterioration" vinyl LP compilation in 2023), but what awaits the listener on the band's first official full-length offering is something so wretched and imposing that it will test the composure and impressionability of even the most unfazed skeptics. Across its grueling thirty six minutes "Kuboa" unravels an utter masterclass of downtuned auditory nihilism that will leave both die hard fans of sludge/doom and extreme metal enthusiasts in general alike in awe and overcome by the ghastly payload of absolute slow-crawling death they've just been crushed by. The legacy of pillars of the genre like Corrupted, Noothgrush, Coffins, and Meth Drinker lives on through through seven epochal and genre-defining slabs of all-devouring subsonic auditory torment that restore sludge/doom to its most iconic and crowning glory.

Flags Are False is an explosive catapult of chaotic energy and blistering speed with a trashiness to the sound that can only be described as “authentic”. Lovingly named after a furious 39 second piece of Kentucky hardcore called “Acid Casualty” by KORO, AC’s songs are a pitch perfect homage to our beloved 80’s USHC with a special place in their hearts for “being New Jersey”. Cause that’s where they’re from, duh. What we have always appreciated about NJ punk music is that it’s fucking loud, brash, simple, tuneful, and aggressive. This album is 100% those things to a tee. ***Geronimo’s history and prehistory span three decades. Founded in 2004 by Moises Ruiz (drums) & W. T. Nelson (electronics / hollers), Anthony Francoso (bass) joined the group in 2006. All three were former conspirators in the cacophonous ’90s Angeleno five-piece: Sleestak.Along with participation in other significant ’90s projects such as Loser, Slowrider, Man Is The Bastard and Bastard Noise—Geronimo also involves the founding of a synth brand. When Ruiz and Nelson took to the road in 2005, an appearance in Japan resulted in some mortally wounded test-kit knobbed by Nelson. The repair & rework became the basis of Trogotronic’s very first synth soon after.Preceded by releases from satellite solo projects Emperor of the North and TTT, Daft Alliance welcomes Geronimo to the imprint in 2025 with Mother Earth Father Sky. ***Glasgow’s Dancer return with More or Less, their second full-length album and a bold leap forward for the band. The album features 12 new tracks, adding fresh energy and dynamics to the group’s signature blend of art-rock, post-punk and lo-fi charm. Originally titled More, the band reimagined the name after discovering a high-profile act had used it first resulting in More or Less, a fitting reflection of the album’s theme: every thing's the same, but every thing's different. The record finds Dancer pushing into brighter, more refined sonic territory without losing their raw, scrappy edge. Lead singles "Happy Halloween" and "Just Say Yes" showcase the band’s most immediate and catchy material to date, while tracks like "Getting It Wrong Every Time" and the contemplative bookends "Legend" and "Calm Down" highlight their growing emotional and musical range. Recorded at Chime Studios in Glasgow with engineer Ross McGowan, More or Less was born during a winter of personal and political turbulence—marked by bereavement, illness, and grim weather. In response, Dancer offer a record that chooses daydreams over despair, and energy over entropy.

***When the Venn diagram of passion, friendship, identity, and artistry collide, it can feel as if fighting words are spitting from your veins. And as postmodern society crumbles, Die Spitz giddily bounce between a dozen different ways to push back. If the world of rock music were an ice cream shop, the Austin quartet have sampled each flavor, flipped the freezer over, and started dancing with the employees they helped unionize. On their debut album, Something to Consume, Ava Schrobilgen, Chloe De St. Aubin, Ellie Livingston, and Kate Halter fight against the inescapable consumption that surrounds life. “There’s a political side to it, but addiction and love can also be all-consuming,” Livingston says. And as the foursome trade off instruments, swapping songwriting and vocal duties, and generating powerful songwriting in concussive bursts, Die Spitz have created their own little pocket of the world where we can all stand on the edge together.

***The “dumbest band in hardcore” returns with twelve more rampaging tracks. While Illiterates’ last record, 2023’s No Experts, trimmed their compositions to the bone, Does Not Compute widens the scope just a hair, making room for anthemic mid-paced parts (see “Remember When” and the epic title track), blazing Straight Ahead-esque crossover rippage (“Sustainability”), and even a touch of trad youth crew (the Can’t Close My Eyes influences were all over No Experts, but “No One Wants To” is pure Revelation Records circa 1988). Illiterates have also added a new guitarist since the last record, which they’re so excited about they wrote a song about it (“Hig Champion”), though they tastefully limit themselves to just a few eruptions of fret-melting lead licks. And while Illiterates insist they’re dumb, their lyrics are full of wisdom you don’t get at the library, like the anti-pretension anthem “Read the Room” (my favorite lyric: “one thing school didn’t teach you is how to read the fucking room”). Hair-splitting aside, Does Not Compute is another great hardcore record from one of the best bands in the game right now.

***Hypnotic Smack is the new album from Knowso, the Cleveland punk duo featuring Nathan Ward (Cruelster, Perverts Again, the Carp) and Jayson Gerycz (Cloud Nothings). If you’ve heard Knowso’s music, you know they’re spiritual children of Devo, both in their proclivity toward dense and nervy rhythmic experimentation and in the way their lyrics turn a cracked, distorted mirror at the world and its many absurdities. Like the Fall’s best records, Hypnotic Smack attacks the body and the brain simultaneously, your hips jerking uncontrollably to the robotic pulse of “You Climb the Sphynx” and “Club Music is the Soundtrack” while your brain chews the koan-like cud of lyrical nuggets such as “every boss in America is a real estate agent.” Ward’s cryptic lyrics reflect the psychedelic labyrinth of horrors that is your daily doomscroll, but it’s OK… we can still dance the night away to “Panopticon,” the goth club dance anthem no one predicted Knowso would write. The world is full of punk bands that are great at pummeling you, but Hypnotic Smack is the rare punk record that beguiles and entrances.

***Deranged Canadian goregrind sociopath Bone Fetish brings you its first self-titled full-length perversion, a career-spanning compilation atrocity containing all of the project's recordings up to this date, including 2021's "Buried" demo, 2022's "Convergence" demo, 2024's "Mummified" demo, and five more brand new and never before released aberrations, all remastered and resequenced by Will Killingsworth into a cohesive and gut-wrenching monstrosity of utter nihilism and destruction. The twenty five-minute, seventeen-track gore-infested death and grind onslaught is a deep dive into a deranged mind slipping off the edge and being consumed by its most inverse and unutterable delusions, ranging from hallucinatory corpse-fucking fantasies, to rotten-flesh eating impulses, all the way to violent sodomy, necrophilia, and self-dismemberment idealization. A harrowing sonic depiction of an unfortunate human mind erratically coded and wired on the completely wrong values and interests, resulting in some of the most vile and inhuman deviancies conceivable. Shreds of early Carcass, Impetigo, Haemorrhage, Pathologist, Disgorge and Necronist reverberate throughout the torture dungeons, the entrails spattered sewers and the robbed sepulchers, unfolding a rabid and frantic assault of cruelty and perversions that is attempting to violently destroy itself just as fast as it can destroy every other breathing thing around it in the most inefficient, sadistic, and irrational way possible.

Recorded in a remote cabin on the Devon coast, STILL OUT is an album-length collaboration between musician-filmmakers—and childhood friends—Will Cookson and Tom Haverly. A reflection on friendship, landscape and the passing of time, it inspired a road trip from North Yorkshire to North Devon they took together in the summer of 2024, and forms the soundtrack to a film of the same name which had its premiere screening as part of Stroud Film Festival in March 2025.Like the film, STILL OUT is also an oblique homage to The KLF’s iconic 1990 album Chill Out, which the Gloucestershire-based pair revisited after it turned up unexpectedly a few years back in Tom’s dad’s record collection. Inspired to create their own recording using a similarly free-spirited process, Will and Tom relocated to the Devon coast in late summer 2023, splicing together a 40-minute mix from their personal archive of recordings and found sounds in a remote cabin with no electricity or mobile reception."It came together using cut-and-paste techniques, with ongoing shifts and tweaks,” says Will. “The final result was an audio collage that felt like something [legendary hip hop producers] The Bomb Squad might make—if ambient music was the only material in their sample library."Using ‘ambient’ as a starting-point rather than an end in itself, they took inspiration from across the musical spectrum – classic-period Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Bill Evans, plus outliers such as 80s singer-songwriter Virginia Astley and the late DJ-producer Andrew Weatherall. The connections, though, are anything but obvious as...

Los Angeles trio Faetooth sophomore album Labyrinthine is a deeply felt exploration of emotional weight: grief, memory, uncertainty, and the quiet work of growing around your own wounds.Following the band’s 2022 debut Remnants Of The Vessel, which introduced the band’s signature blend of heaviness and mysticism, Labyrinthine pushes further inward. True to its name, the album winds through a maze of feeling and form, where meaning is never handed over easily. It’s rooted in self-discovery through disorientation, the idea that understanding comes not from escape, but from getting lost.Ari May (guitars and vocals), Jenna Garcia (bass and vocals), and Rah Kanan (drums) manage to stay grounded in the immediate in parallel with fantasy themes of the band’s namesake. Labyrinthine holds space for this contradiction; tenderness and intensity, restraint and release. The band’s self-branded “fairy doom” sound fits between shoegaze, doom, and grunge. It isn’t just texture; it’s a framework for navigating the unsaid.Like the myth that inspired its title, Labyrinthine doesn’t end in victory, but in confrontation—not with escape, but with the Minotaur. Only here, the Minotaur isn’t a monster. It’s something quiet and more familiar: unresolved feelings, old memories, and sadness that refuse to stay buried. The album winds like a maze, sometimes heavy, sometimes hushed, always intentional.Faetooth isn’t chasing catharsis. They’re creating space to reflect, to feel, and maybe to get a little lost along the way.

Using just voice and electric piano, the music delicately enswathed by ambient synth – minimal without losing sight of his songcraft Crooked Songs suggests an otherworldly naturalism akin to a ghost returning to earth to observe the passing of time, life, and light. A Note from Hayden Pedigo: "Back in December of 2023, after being on the road for a month opening for Devendra Banhart, I played a solo show in the basement of a Shriner lodge in Boise, Idaho. I’d never heard of Jens Kuross, a local act selected by the promoter to open the show. Before the show, we went to dinner together and he told me, 'I'm just gonna play my Wurlitzer and sing with some ambient synth stuff and see what happens.'" "An hour later, with everyone sitting on that basement floor, Jens began to play. In the first twenty seconds, my wife and I looked at each other like, 'Are you hearing what I’m hearing?' Jens played these beautiful, touching songs that sounded something like Arthur Russell-meets-Harry Nilsson. By the second song, I was in tears. It was the first live performance that ever made me cry. At the end of his set, I told my wife that it was the single best live performance I had...

Orcutt Shelley Miller is an avant-rock trio comprised of three highly celebrated figures of experimental music: Bill Orcutt (Harry Pussy), Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) and Ethan Miller (Howlin Rain, Comets On Fire). Following in the footsteps of the high-firing free jazz and European outer-rock bands of the ’60s and ’70s and the Pacific Rim’s subterranean reimagining of “rock” form in the ’90s, Orcutt Shelley Miller utilize explosive group chemistry, focused intention and chance to pursue the creation of song in its rawest, purest form. “The landscape Orcutt Shelley Miller inhabits lies deep in the stoner American bedrock, fed by volcanic riffage and hypnotic phrasing with rhythmic nods to the SoCal ’60s and atonal slash piled on a mid ’80s SST punk-fusionoid substrate, ultimately blasting a ‘big rock statement’ that treads the line between good times and blown minds.” —Tom Carter

The formative years of Hunter Thompson’s music as Akasha System were seeded and shaped by the shrouded meadows and wet woodlands of the Pacific Northwest: Sea Glass, Shadow Self, Echo Earth, Geomind. But pandemic flux flipped the script, prompting a migration to the monsoon tropics of Tampa. Heliocene ushers in a fresh chapter in the Akashic record, recasting the project’s precision synergy of cellular melody, holographic pads, spiral tribalism, and eco-futurist swing for a new solar age. The album’s eight songs were recorded across 2023 and 2024, inspired by explorations of the many sanctuaries hidden in Florida’s ragged paradise: singing towers, ancient grottoes, emerald lagoons. From vortex house (“Purity Vector,” “Sun Particle”) to mirage electronica (“Haunted Planet,” “Soma Totem”) to hand drum divination (“Terraform Dream”), the sides flow, glow, and gleam, dialed in but dreaming out, tracing radiant waves of the eternal now. “This album is a meditation to experience where and when you are, fully and wholly, regardless of where the path leads.”

Sydney's Lipstick Killers released just one single in their lifetime—the perfect ’79 pairing of “Hindu Gods of Love” and ”Shakedown USA”, released on both their own Lost in Space Records and Greg Shaw’s Voxx Records and produced by Deniz Tek of the band's heroes Radio Birdman—but a posthumous live album and a couple of archival releases followed. It was all incredible. and it was all put together a few years ago on Grown Up Wrong!'s 2xCD set Strange Flash! And while the 2xLP version of that release included all the studio stuff and the live in LA 1981 set, there was no room for this brain-burning, chaotic live set from '79. Tour De Force, which was recorded for local radio station 5UV, captures the band as they were still emerging from the cocoon that was the Psycho Surgeons. The Nuggets influences are there, but it's a Stooges influences which dominate proceedings, and definitive readings of both sides of the Psycho Surgeons classic 45 "Wild Weekend"/"Horizontal Action" are included alongside early Killers killers like "Teen Police" and "Sockman" and later faves like "Hindu Gods of Love', "Shakedown USA" and "Dying Boy's Crawl". The band's hot take on the Thirteenth Floor Elevators' "I've Got Levitation" is also featured. There's also plenty of tunes that were only ever captured on tape on this wild night, including "Human Crash", "Crush On You", "Head Off" and "Bully"!

The first solo release from Tom Flynn (Tapeworm, Fang, Duh, Star Pimp, Cornelius Asperger, Antler Family, Suboptics, Melvins, etc.). "Do the Thud" is a sludgy glob of blues-metal coughed up from the diseased lung of a depressed walrus, featuring Flynn's usual guitar strangulations. The flip side "Balloons vs. Grenades" is a hyper new-wave robot attack, a political cry for help. Both tracks feature 1000 tons of drumming talent residing in the person of Dale Crover (Melvins), as well as additional vocals from Elma Marcelle Poulos (Star Pimp) in her long awaited return to the microphone.Tom Flynn - vocals, guitar, bass, pianoDale Crover - drumsElma Marcelle Poulos - vocals
