***One man New Haven noisegrind band CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP (aka: Chopx7 or Chop7times) has been honing his craft for five years, tearing a path up and down the East coast in the process. His newest offering, Become Nothing is his most focused work yet. A unique blend of noisecore and powerviolence all created with digitally programmed drums and bass makes for a punishing experience. Gone are the interludes and samples that occupied the space between songs on previous releases, leaving room for a heavier emphasis on the slow and sludgy side of his sound. Make no mistake though, he still gets up to absolutely blistering speeds as well. All of this with a lyrical focus on the erosion of one’s identity due to outside forces. Since the album comes in at just around 17 minutes, it is pressed in full on one side of the record with his previous album, We Live as Ghosts (previously only available on an out-of-print cassette) occupying the B side; his most popular release to date, this is the first time that it will be available on wax. ***"We’ve been working on this one for a while and it does not disappoint! We initially planned on doing a one sided cassette for a single long track. The band brought us 2 crushing and engaging works of force and finesse that are a never tiring 16+ and 20+ minutes each. We were so moved we decided there was no course, but to also offer it up on vinyl. In addition to producing their usual brand of pissed-off Metal/Hardcore, the members of Dissolve have always dabbled in playing strange improvisational music. A few years back, the band started recording their rehearsals in an attempt to bring something tangible back from these sonic excursions into the far-out, deep space that they would travel to together. Burnt is the recorded artifact of these explorations and features two of Dissolve’s heaviest, and longest, songs ever. 'Shot Rocks' and 'Sunshine' crush the listener with the brutal, down-tuned riffs and raving, street prophet vocals that people would expect from Dissolve, but then they also take a lot of unexpected twists and turns into blotter acid territory. The songs go deep into shadow realms of ambient whispers and electronic whirs that lead to gonzo guitar solos and bursts of noise. There’s a lot of wild sounds going on during these songs. Put on the good headphones, turn on, tune in, and drop out." Edition of 167 copies.

***Trance Macabre's self-titled debut is a jazz album born in the punk-house basements of Connecticut. Inspired by the ensemble's Hartford roots, this music responds to figures like Jackie McLean and Alice Coltrane and their outcry of speculative musical timbres within pop forms. The band recorded these four original compositions to quarter inch tape in East Haven, CT thanks to engineer Matt Paolillo (Tick Hive, Kodak Fire, Shirese) in one take apiece over the course of two hours in October of 2023. For fans of ESP Disk, Strata East, and ECM Records, but also an enticing choice for new jazz listeners who may enjoy uptempo ostinatos patterned by a spectral periphery.

***Tongue Depressor (New Haven, CT) is the duo of Zach Rowden and Henry Birdsey. They write, improvise, and perform drone-based music with fiddles, pedal steel, lap steel, contrabass, organ, and bells, usually involving micro- tonal tunings and rearranged /retuned fragments of American church music. Austin Larkin (New Haven, CT) uses elements of tone, interstices of fields, asymmetries, and patterns. Performance and practice informed by re- search into dimensions of vibrating bodies. On this recording Tongue Depressor and Austin Larkin have combined to record what they had been practicing on the road live across the US together. Henry Birdsey (TD) plays bagpipes and lap steel. Zach Rowden (TD) plays violin and tapes. Austin Larkin plays viola and sirens (which he himself constructed and are a story unto themselves). Soothing sounds give way to unsettling / unnerving feelings when the sirens find their way through meditative loops.

***Antoni Maiovvi's The Dead Of Winter is a semi-faux soundtrack album in the vein of the British composers more classically cinematic works. Sonically the album resembles a sort of Deathrock Danny Elfman locking horns with Howard Shore piloting Sunn O)))’s dopemobile... at night... in the fog. The Dead Of Winter is a collection of unused themes made for a very real movie that for various tax break reasons were unable to be used. Not wanting to waste the work already completed, the cues were finished without picture and arranged here as their own narrative, with the idea to transport the listener to a snowy, isolated, old building filled with secrets and demons.

Ambient drift rock band LANDING formed in 1998 by married couple AARON and ADRIENNE SNOW, two musicians who met at Brigham Young University and moved to Connecticut after graduating. Landing quickly set about recording their dark, ambient dream pop, resulting in several cassette and EP releases. Their early work was stylistically close to that of contemporaries like Flying Saucer Attack, Bowery Electric, and Windy & Carl, with buried vocals and washes of noisy texture riding slow, drawn-out rhythms. Following the 2015 EP Body Diffuser on Vast Arc Hues, the full-length Third Sight was released by El Paraiso in 2016, followed shortly by Complekt on These Are Not Records. The Krautrock-influenced Bells in New Towns appeared on El Paraiso in 2018. HEADROOM first took flight in 2016 as the solo outlet for New Haven musician KRYSSI BATTALENE, née of regarded noise project COLORGUARD and guitarist for psychedelic voyagers, MOUNTAIN MOVERS. Headroom sprung forth from the fertile and underrated New Haven scene—a musical patchwork of punk, hardcore, noise & experimental music all sharing the same stages & DIY spots and creating a musical identity all their own. Battalene's talent flourished & soon enough, her signature style of guitar was infiltrating and influencing a new crop of New Haven musicians; part Twisted Village / PSF Records-influenced white noise maelstrom, part nuanced, beautiful six-stringed draperies. ***REDUCTION PLAN's music comes from within solitude's frigid embrace. Pulling from '80s goth, industrial, dream-pop, as well as cacophonous no-wave, Reduction Plan uses both noise and space to illustrate the power of silence. Synth swells, hypnotic guitars, pulsing drum machines, and haunting murmurs form the foundation of the project’s sound. The record finds MANNING expanding Reduction Plan’s sound into heavier, more distorted territory. Album opener “An Act of Self-Immolation” leads with an ominous synth hum, followed swiftly by an explosive wash of distorted guitars. Second track “Meridian” is an eerie, bass-driven dirge inspired by the turmoil and brutality of Cormac McCarthy’s seminal novel Blood Meridian. It isn’t all doom and gloom throughout the opening moments, however, as “The River” opens with a soaring saxophone solo, bouncing drum machine groove, and shimmering, chorus-heavy guitars.
