***Forged in the sweltering drunkscape that is Austin, Texas, Cheap Fix stood up, brushed the dust and dog hair off their jeans, and set about making some of this year’s most unstoppable rock and roll anthems. After blowing a hole in the world’s eardrums with their debut single “Re-animator Blues” on Goodbye Boozy, Cheap Fix doubles down, flinging their second single in six months at the garage rock masses like a gauntlet thrown. This one has real big-hole energy, reeling off all the things—savory riffs, killer hooks, methed-up grooves, even some country twang —at the blistering pace of 45 rotations per minute. “Soul Tune” is a James Arthur screamer, with a breakneck propulsion that manages not to trample all over the meaty hook at its core. If you were planning on leaning back and relaxing this weekend, those plans are over. No amount of Xanax can keep you from bobbing your head along to this one. Historians will say that the release of this song is what sparked the infamous 2025 surge in drag racing, whiskey slugging, and all sorts of collateral debauchery.
