Jakob Armstrong, Kevin Judd and brothers Chris & Enzo Malaspina began playing music and recording as Mt. Eddy in 2017 and although the moniker was exchanged for Ultra Q in 2019 there's a musical throughline that is more than hinted at by this album's title. As a band Ultra Q is rooted in the post punk of The Cure & Interpol but filtered through the sonic sensibilities of Superdrag or contemporaries like Together Pangea and Joyce Manor. Their debut LP "My Guardian Angel" strayed more into epic shoegaze atmospherics to great effect and "Empty Eddy" represents a return to the more earthbound Punk in "Post-Punk" full of driving melodies and heart bound hooks. Originally self released and only sold at shows & briefly on their website this is the first time it's been available for distribution.

“Pinhead Gunpowder started writing songs in 1990 and made our first 7-inch the following spring. Nearly every year since, we’ve met up to play. Some years we recorded—five albums and eleven EPs—and some years we played shows. “But since 2010, we’ve been playing just for ourselves, something bands forget to do. Rather than ‘writing for the new album’ or rehearsing to get ready for tour, we went back to the basement every year. We lived in the house we’d built, remembering how we’d made the music for each other in the first place. We played all over the world—well, at least Oakland, Singapore and New York—but only for each other. We worked on the reissues of our back catalog, too and found ourselves fonder of each other and more family-like than ever. “A new record and tour was only a matter of time, but between the members’ other bands projects, and families, that was hard to find. When we finally did, we were all surprised. We think it’s our best yet—our catchiest, most collaborative, and most poignant.” — Aaron Cometbus Pinhead Gunpowder is Billie Joe Armstrong, Aaron Cometbus, Jason White and Bill Schneider. Unt is fourteen brand new songs recorded in 2023 by Chris Dugan (Green Day, Weezer, Iggy Pop, Samiam, Swingin’ Utters etc) and mastered for all formats by Nick Townsend (Cheap Trick, Bad Religion, Iron Maiden etc) at Infrasonic Sound. Green Vinyl edition! The fourth album by Pinhead Gunpowder. These 7-inch and compilation cuts were collected on CD by Lookout Records in 2003, but aside from an immediately recalled version, this is Compulsive Disclosure’s first vinyl release. The sound is a confluence of the members’ other groups, like Astrid Oto, The Influents, and the Foxboro Hot Tubs, plus “all the melody and twice the spite” of their combined force. This twelve-song album—now including the blazing “West Side Highway” EP—is cut at 45 RPM on color vinyl.

The third album by Pinhead Gunpowder. What began as a recording project had become an enduring band, and this 1997 release is proof. The members brought the sounds of their other groups—Redmond Shooting Stars, Uranium 9 Volt, The Big Cats, and Green Day—but joined together to make something new and unique. Originally released on Lookout Records, this thirteen-song LP has been recut at 45 RPM and comes on limited BLUE color vinyl.

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Half and half black/red vinyl. This summer marks 40 years since the release of what we feel is one the most important singles in American punk history. Fronted by an aggressive, openly gay, unrepentant communist, The Dicks were an elemental force in the early 80's Texas punk scene. Their influence on countless musicians, artists and activists world wide four decades later can be felt today. Sadly, instead of being an interesting artifact from a troubled time long since past, "Hate The Police" is still depressingly relevant. 1-2-3-4 Go! has taken great pains to faithfully reissue this legendary single. Re-mastered at Fantasy by George Horn in 2012 this is the best sounding version and only legitimate reissue since the original. The cover has been fully restored to it’s three color glory and comes with the lyric insert. All living band members have given their approval and are compensated before we press a single copy.

Destroy Boys is an Oakland-based, female-fronted, melodic punk band founded in 2015. Make Room showcases the duo’s growth as songwriters and musicians with Vi Mayugba’s driving sonic guitar creating a raw, gritty canvas for Alexia Roditis’s ethereal, haunting, and sometimes comical vocals. A raucously introspective road trip to early adulthood, with the feeling of a cross between Blondie and Tragic Kingdom-era No Doubt. Destroy Boys are the perfect soundtrack for slaying the patriarchy or going skating with friends. They recently completed a tour with Mannequin Pussy (Epitaph Records) in September and are slated to head out with Face to Face and Lagwagon in late October.

The self-titled debut album by Dead Sound is out now on 1-2-3-4 Go! Records. The guitar-driven power pop quartet—whose sound is reminiscent of bands such as The Replacements, Hold Steady, Dinosaur Jr., Husker Du, and Teenage Fanclub—was produced and mixed by Grammy Award winning engineer Chris Dugan at O2 Oakland. Dead Sound’s release follows the band’s first year performing throughout the west coast including supporting several sold out shows for bands such as Billie Joe Armstrong’s side project The Longshot and other beloved Bay Area bands. Formed in the fall of 2017, Dead Sound is: Mark W. Lynn (Dear County, Uranium 9 Volt, The Devil’s Own, Monsula), Bill Schneider (Pinhead Gunpowder, The Influents, Monsula), Mike Goshert (Fifteen, Harvest Theory, Monsula), and Mack Narragon (Melba Cults). Energized by Monsula’s run of shows including supporting Jawbreaker’s first two reunion performances and headlining the Lookout Records / 924 Gilman thirty-year anniversary festival, Schneider, Lynn, and Goshert began writing new material. Through a stroke of luck Lynn met Narragon, bonding over a conversation about George Jones. New songs were fleshed out with the rest of the band and thus Dead Sound was formed.

This combo pack is a must-have item for any music documentary enthusiast or fan of East Bay punk. They have a truly impressive live show and an uncanny ability to infuse elements of classic soul, pop, and experimental rock 'n' roll. ***“A lot goes into the rattle of Teenage Rattlesnakes. In wading through the gunk, you’ll hear psychedelic garage moderne, far enough removed from their domestic contemporaries to be mistaken for Euro gang-chanters conducting a tribal punk séance. But they’re American Men, able to see the art inherent in pink sludge sustenance. Moments of severe stomp and circus tomfoolery recall the frenzied Avant Garde Rock’n’Roll of The Monks, with further irritants injected to make it all the more jarring. A recent inactive period saw members disperse to outfits like TACOCAT, UNNATURAL HELPERS or UZI RASH, producing offerings infinitely more civilized than expected.Perhaps the toxicity so often associated with the band enabled them to grow extra appendages, but the performances captured here move so far past the plod that it’ll no doubt shock those familiar with the band’s early droppings. One can’t help but believe that THE TRASHIES have mutated into (gasp) a band with (gasp!) ideas and (gasp!!) the musical chops to see them through to the fullest. Of course, there are trade-offs: each album comes with a redeemable coupon for one Silkwood-shower.”—Mitch Cardwell. Limited to 500 copies on trash colored vinyl.

***Widely heralded as one of the best new bands in the SF Bay Area. SYNTHETIC ID play taught, angular, aggressive post punk oft compared to The Wipers, Gang of Four, Wire and Mission of Burma. This record uses tension to level whatever is put in front of it. Use it to flatten your neighbor's house. Includes download code. First pressing limited to only 500 copies. "Synthetic ID sound like Greg Sage, D. Boone, and Colin Newman fabricating the house band for the International Space Station. Or better yet, spending three days in close quarters on an uncharted trek to the Sea of Tranquility. Anxious paranoia dripping from the walls. It's jerky, derailed, and draws heavily from early post-punk, but chugs along at a classic punk tempo, blasting out totally agitated lyrics the whole time. Space madness? Or just a need to escape the surface of this planet, even if it just be through the act of playing two minute punk jams? Either way, it's exciting and different." - Razorcake

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Fake Punk can be some of the best punk! The late ‘70s had a bevy of great punk/power pop one off bands. Often secretly and not so secretly fronted by members of famous/semi-famous rock groups. The Pack, Pork Dukes, The Greedies, The Monks (UK) top amongst them but one of the longest and loudest lauded is F.U.2.. Raw, snotty, and jammed up with hooks and attitude. The group was essentially the ‘60s garage/freakbeat band DOWNLINERS SECT under an assumed Punk name and recorded over a case of Vodka. What came out is some of the realest fake punk you'll ever here. ***BACK IN PRINT ON NEW OPAQUE RED VINYL!!! Note new price. "Ozma" is perhaps one of the sweetest odes to a dearly departed, snoring, rabbit munching mutt! "Muppet Babies" is the long time crowd pleasing cover of the theme song from the Jim Henson cartoon classic from the '80s. Introductions for this band have gotten a little unnecessary over the last few years or so with SHANNON moonlighting with and co-writing songs for HUNX AND HIS PUNX, CODY's excellent solo LP with KING LOLLIPOP and the lesser known but equally impressive plastics work of IAN the drummer. But if you've some how missed them you're in for a treat. The term Young Oldies gets tossed around quite a bit and is kind of fitting. They also nestle in nicely with the resurgent garage scene. Now in a full color cover with an insert that translates the swedish lyrics in to english! MRR had this to say about the album "...Imagine pairing a classic Euro Killed By Death sound (sung in Swedish, no less) with a lean toward pub rock and the amphetamine-fueled R&B that dominated the UK in the mid-’70s. While that might spell trouble for anyone unwilling to look past, I dunno, MASSHYSTERI for their Euro-punk fix, this amounts to nothing short of a fucking lightning bolt to the rest of us! It’s refreshing to hear a band mining the sounds of the initial punk era but shrugging off the pose and fashion-aping, opting instead for legit soul and passion. ROB VERTIGO stared directly in to a photograph of Dean Whitmore for three full days and has wrung out of his ADD riddled wet-lobes more catchy tracks than one would think imaginable. Seemingly hundreds since his first foray into 4-track. But catchy don't mean just simple or clean. There's a history of Pacific NW grime, grit and a snarling wry wit caked under his fingernails.
